Updated oil port map

26 August 2008
The oil port map, which designates the “oil port sections,” has been adjusted in the light of recent developments.

Limiting risk

Tankers loading/unloading unpackaged liquid flammable cargo pose a special risk in the port because of the risk properties of this cargo. To reduce this risk, the 'Local act on Harbour and Inland waterways' designates “oil port sections,” where these ships must dock. It should also be noted that, without an exemption granted by the Amsterdam City Executive, other ships are banned from sailing or docking at these locations.

Recent developments

The so-called oil port map indicates the oil port sections. These special sections have been allocated to ensure safety during the loading/unloading of unpackaged liquid flammable cargo. The oil port map has been adjusted to take account of recent developments.

Changes

Among the recent developments are the opening of the new quay on the northern side of the Texashaven (Texas Port); the new waiting jetty connected to the breakwater in the ADM Westhaven (ADM West Port); as well as the new jetty at OTA.
