Schiphol and Rotterdam also receive accolades to highlight the Netherlands’ leading position in logistics
The highly regarded “Cargonews Asia” magazine – which covers logistics and maritime transport – has nominated Amsterdam for Best European Seaport . A total of three candidates will now vie for the Asia Freight Supply Chain Award (AFSCA) in the Best European Seaport category. The other nominees are Rotterdam and Hamburg, which underlines the Netherlands’ leading position in logistics.
The nomination and then the election of the winners in the logistics sector are in the hands of key decision makers in this industry. The whole selection process is verified independently. “Cargonews Asia” writes to the Port of Amsterdam: “To be a finalist of the prestigious awards is a reflection of your position as one of the leading organizations in the industry, and on this occasion, the Port of Amsterdam has been recognized by the readers of ‘Cargonews Asia’ for its excellence in our field.”
The container terminal in Amsterdam is not suffering from congestion problems, which is contributing to its popularity. This and other factors are increasingly turning the Port of Amsterdam into the flexible alternative for leading shipping and transport companies that are operating between Asia and the final destinations in Europe and are keen to keep transit time and costs well under control.
It is not only Dutch seaports that are being recognized for excellence. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has now been nominated for Best European Airport. The presence of a world-class seaport and an equally highly rated airport has helped make Greater Amsterdam a particularly attractive location for international and national companies to set up shop or use as a logistics hub. Being nominated for an AFSCA means that the local seaport and airport are being recognized as leading players in the industry.
The winners of the 22nd edition of the Asia Freight Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) will be announced and honored at a gala party at the Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel in Singapore on April 22, 2008.
