Amsterdam Port Area introduces Pontis port-management system

Since September 18, 2007, the new port-management system for the Amsterdam Port Area has become operational. This management-port system - called Pontis - will keep track all shipping-related information. Pontis will strengthen the one-stop service offered to visiting ships by the port authorities, other government agencies and companies. Pontis will be the link between ships and those organizations involved in managing shipping traffic and providing services.

Amsterdam Forum for China attracts many top officials and captains of industry

The first Amsterdam Forum for China, which took place on Wednesday September 12, pulled in 200 high-level politicians, top government officials and business leaders from China and the Netherlands. The general consensus was that this event, organized by the Port of Amsterdam, was a tremendous success.



Amsterdam: New weekly service to Sweden and a new one to England
6 September 2007
6 September will see the commencement of a weekly direct service between Amsterdam and Södertälje and Västeras in Sweden. This is happening in response to a substantial increase in demand for short-sea transport to Sweden's east coast in general and to Stockholm in particular. In a separate development, a new weekly service will start between the English port of Goole and Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Forum for China will further cement Amsterdam-Chinese relationship

The first Amsterdam Forum for China symposium will take place on Wednesday September 12, 2007. Amsterdam will host the event, which will attract top-level speakers, invitees and other visitors. The symposium is being organized by the Port of Amsterdam in the light of the rapidly growing commercial ties with the Far East in general and China in particular.
