Port of Amsterdam strives for economic growth within sustainable development. Durability with regards to construction and maintenance of the infrastructure but also in the ecological management of these. Port of Amsterdam has developed specific policies for this.

Balance between economics and ecology is very important for the development of the Amsterdam North Sea Canal area. That is why the environment must be protected as far as possible. Port of Amsterdam ensures that users of the port abide by the normal behavioural and environmental regulations and that the quality of the ground, the water and the water bottoms are not threatened.
