To continue growing, the Port of Amsterdam is keen to attract more container ships and companies active in the logistics sector. After all, growing volumes of goods are transported in containers. Amsterdam's promotional campaign aimed at raising its profile as a container port and an international logistics hub is called ART-on-a-BOX
Over the course of five years, 12 Amsterdam artists have painted 12 containers using imagery typical of Amsterdam. The local painters did so in the public and media spotlight. The art containers were displayed at congresses, trade fairs and other public events. Eventually, the containers will become part of the regular transport flow and will thus be visible around the world to generate further publicity for Amsterdam as a container port and international logistics hub. These mobile works of art will symbolize typically Amsterdam qualities - entrepreneurial spirit and creative, innovative mindset.
ART-on-a-BOX is a joint effort undertaken by various Amsterdam companies and organizations including the Ter Haak Group/CCA Containers, Amsterdam Container Terminals (ACT), ORAM, Amports, the City of Amsterdam (I amsterdam) and the Port of Amsterdam.
